Journaling can be a fantastic tool to track the things that make you happy so you can do more of it! It can encourage positive self-talk which in turn can make you feel more positive about yourself and situations. Journaling doesn’t need to be a massive process and there will be a journal out there that suits your needs! We love the Coconut Lane5-minute journal which captures your thoughts morning and night and really only does take 5 minutes to fill in, it’s great for starting out into the world of journaling and it can be found in our Feel Good edit Bijou Box.
However you choose to journal these quick and easy tips should help with it!
1. Make it a habit
To really see the benefits of journaling you do need to be consistent, think about how you can incorporate it into your daily routine or is there a time in the day that you can set aside for journaling? Habits take time to form so don’t beat yourself up if you miss a few days, just pick the pen back up and carry on where you left off.
2. It’s private and just for you
This might seem an obvious one, but your journal is just for you. These are your thoughts and feelings and don’t need to be shared with anyone; you can talk about people, talk about how you feel, talk about your day, talk about anything! It’s a private space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and doesn’t need to be shared (unless you really want to!)
3. Write down your thoughts
Don’t be shy, really use your journaling space to explore your thoughts and feelings and write them down. Remember point 2, it’s a private space and just for you so don’t be hesitant in writing down how you really feel, you have to be honest with yourself and your thoughts and feelings in order to grow and develop through journaling. Make sure you write down how you are really feeling.
There are some great benefits to journaling, it can help relieve stress, encourage self - reflection, and help you understand yourself better so what are you waiting for? Pick up that pen and give it a try.
