I love talking and feeling connected and one of the easiest mood boosters for me is to have a good ol’ chat with my friends and family. Recently my friends and I have been using Whatsapp voice notes to send each other messages; I love getting them throughout the day and it’s so nice to hear my friends’ voice rather than just read a message from them. Why don’t you lift you and your friend’s mood by sending them a voice note?
Wear a bright colour
Colours can be mood boosting and can affect how we feel if you aren’t feeling quite yourself - try injecting your outfit with a pop of colour. This could be an accessory or swapping out your usual grey hoodie (my standard outfit at the moment!) for something like this gorgeous ‘be you, do you, love you for YOU’ lilac sweatshirt from Mama Established. A pop of colour AND an empowering message, you can’t get better than that!
Put the kettle on!
Pause for a minute and have a cup of tea - I’m a fan of the Lemon Verbana loose tea from Very Craftea, with a citrus lift. It helps to cheer you and your body up. I also think you can’t beat a chamomile tea, readily available in supermarkets this caffeine-free blend is designed to help calm and relax you makes it perfect choice for bedtime.
Treat yourself to a gift
There is a reason we all love online shopping so much - that immediate purchase can help release a quick fix of dopamine which is the neurotransmitter which helps us feel pleasure. If you are looking for that quick fix then why not look at treating yourself to a Bijou Box, designed with your self-care in mind use your Bijou box items to keep that dopamine feeling going for longer.
Watch something fun on TV
I have so many guilty pleasure TV programmes, you know the ones that you can just switch on and let them wash over you? For me anything like The Real Housewives is my go to but a few others that have caught my eye recently:
· Pooch Perfect (BBC1); I can’t resist the perfect combination of super cute puppies and a reality competition
· Ru Paul’s Drag Race; both the UK (BBC) and American (Netflix) versions have just started, switch it on and allow yourself to be transported to a world of glitz, glamour and readings!
· Emily In Paris (Netflix,) from the creator of Sex and The City; this show documents an American girl’s adventures in Paris. Each episode is about half an hour long making it the perfect show to squeeze in when time is short, the easy-to-follow story lines, incredible outfits, the characters and the scenery make this a show to tune in and chill out to.
